On July 1, 1996 I had the highest honor bestowed upon me when I was appointed
Police Chief for the City of Winooski. I have served the City for 12 years, starting as an
officer in January of 1984. As Police Chief, I will stay active and encourage members of
the community to contact me with any concerns that they may have.
The police department will continue to play an important role in providing for a secure
and healthy environment for the citizens of Winooski. We will strive to continue our
partnership with the school to further the goals of our community.
The Winooski Police Department plays an active role in not only enforcing the laws, but
in educating the citizens of our community. We will be expanding the DARE program to
include all lower grades and continue our neighborhood informational and educational
meetings.
During the past year the department hired 5 highly dedicated individuals. I wish to
welcome Officers Jes Kraus, Rick Hebert, and Michael McCullagh, and Dispatchers Diane
Gagnon and Kris Shaw to the department and look forward to working with them.
It has been a busy and productive year for the department. We responded to 10,238 calls
for service which included 418 arrests for criminal violations. The members of the
department issued 1,636 parking tickets and 1,180 traffic tickets.
